Get Your Head in Order
So. . . at the end of my day the other day (it was a Monday), I had tense shoulders, the beginning of a headache and a generally crabby attitude. I HATE spending any time feeling like that. I looked back over my day to see what the source of the problem was. The day was busy, sure, but not overwhelming. I leaned back in my chair and looked at my online calendar. It hit me – the problem was me. I wasn’t overscheduled. I was rushing and trying to do too many (read: unnecessary) things in too short of a time.
If it does, then like me, you have an expectation issue. I expect that I have time in my calendar to do it all. I expect that I should take more than a few minutes for lunch and when I don’t I get mad at myself. (Though I really want to get back to work!) I expect that my computer will work the way it should and not have to be rebooted when I’m in the middle of a Skype call.
I’m wondering if you have the same problem I do. There are days I just need to get my head in order. Managing my mindset and thinking – even that chatter that is going on behind the scenes – can be a real lifesaver. Take a deep breath, manage your expectations and see if the quality of your day is better.
